St. John’s Festival Band

The Saint Johns Festival Band hails from St Johns County, Florida.  It is composed of thirty-three musicians ages 15 to 18.  This brass, winds and percussion ensemble is a combined effort of two high schools in St Johns County.  Directors Duckett and Fowler have pooled the resources of their band programs for this performance at the Liverpool WaVes International Music and Marching Band Festival.

Band members have spent the last twelve months raising funds to prepare for this international performance tour.  About thirty fans and supporters accompany them.  In addition to this performance in Liverpool, the group will visit Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands, and North Wales. 

The St Johns Festival Band brings its spirit, pride, and honour from sunny Florida to Liverpool and hopes you enjoy their performances.

During the festival, the band will march to the Beatles classic- Can’t Buy Me Love.  A stage performance will feature a sampling of two of Americas contributions to entertainment- Jazz and Disney!   A Disney medley will be played by all – feel free to sing along – and a jazz combo will offer some incredible improvisation and sharing of jazz form and style. 

St John’s County is in the northeast part of the state of Florida- just south of Jacksonville (home of the Jacksonville Jaguars) and about 90 minutes north of Orlando.  Students participating are from two high schools in the county – both schools boast marching bands of over 200 students.
